Golf is a sport in which individual players or teams of players strike a ball into a hole using several types of clubs. Golf is one of the few ball games that does not use a fixed, standardized playing field or area; defined in the Rules of Golf as "playing a ball with a club from the teeing ground into the hole by a stroke or successive strokes in accordance with the Rules.

Everyone has a sport. Some people are into team sports, others
are into individual sports. Each sport has its own rules and
regulations, and each sport requires its own set of equipment.
Whether it is soccer, basketball, tennis, or golf, you'll be
required to invest in equipment that is particular to the sport.
This sports equipment might be balls, racquets, bats, clubs, or
specific clothing, but also includes safety items and peripheral
items, such as clothes and hats.
New or used sports ...

Have you ever wondered why so many Americans are starting to
take up golf? This is a sport where, in most cases, only one
person can be declared the winner and yet, millions of people
are out there each and every day trying to improve their game.
Millions of dollars are spent every year on the latest gadget,
from swing trainers to instructional videos all to drop a few
strokes.
Sure, there are a ton of different tournaments each year and the
same golfer doesn't win them all. Even Tiger Woods ...

If you're new to the sport, and just about to take lessons for
the first time, it can help to know what exactly you're playing
with. While even casual sports watchers have heard the terms
wood, iron and drivers, not everyone knows exactly what they
are, or why they're important to a particular part of your game.
In golf, the rules permit 14 clubs in a bag. Two are usually
personal favorites, but the 12 basic clubs are: three woods- 1
drive, 3 and 5, eight irons- 3-9 plus a pitching wedge, and ...

Four years ago I moved home from the UK to France. As a keen
golfer and newly retired I was keen to live near a good golf
club with a course that I would enjoy and be able to play as I
grew older and a club where I could make friends. Fortunately, I
found both with Granville Golf Club in Normandy. A classic links
course originally designed by Harry Colt. I have made lots of
friends and am now chair of the greens committee or, as we say
in French, President de la Commission du Terrain.
Golf in ...

Is croquet a sport, or more of just a recreational activity for
people to play in their backyards, or both it be both a
competitive sport and recreation. Croquet was actually once
played as a competitive sport in the Olympics. It began to get
popular in the late eighteen hundreds, sharing fields or courses
with tennis. Tennis eventually beat out croquet as the more
popular sport, and croquet was dropped from the Olympic Games.
Currently tennis is a very popular competitive sport, while many
do ...

Golf swing improvement can be elusive for most golfers. I have
read many articles and studies on the huge number of golfers
quitting the game every year. They are tired of putting in the
time, buying equipment, taking lessons, and purchasing every
golf training aid on the market only to see no golf swing
improvement.
You can't fault a frustrated golfer who experiences the above
and quits. Life is too short to spend 5 hours on a golf course
and not enjoy it.
Let's discuss why this happens!
First ...

When we say to people that you need the same skills to be a
successful golfer as you do meditator it usually raises a huge
laugh. Golf and meditation are miles apart. Some often suggest
that in hitting the perfect Golf shot you need to be in a
focussed meditative state, but that's as far as it gets.
What do you think?
I know. You think we're crazy. But let's look at the evidence.
Let's just look at what's needed to be a successful meditator
and you can decide whether the same skills and ...

Some golf beginners think that all they have to do is copy Ernie
Els, Tiger Woods or whoever their favorite golfer might be and
bam, immediate golf success!
I am sorry to say, it is just not that easy. If it were then
everybody would be a lot better. This, as we see every time out
on the course is not so much the case.
In reality, no two people ever really swing the same way. Since
each of us has a unique body build, some more unique than
others, we need to develop our own individual set of ...

Although I was never picked for sports teams as a kid, I always
thought that golf would be far easier than all the others as it
required very little physical exertion in regards to chasing a
ball up and down a field for 90 minutes while opponents try to
take the legs out from under you.
I mean, how difficult could it be? You stand still, look at the
hole at the other end of the green, look at the ball and then
hit it as hard as you can with a metal or wooden club. Even
better, once you do, you ...
